Description
An excellent value and popular choice, the Weems Explorer 7×50 binoculars float, are waterproof, and have the added feature of an illuminated compass and range finder reticle. The built-in magnetic compass appears superimposed near the image seen through the lens, allowing the user to take compass bearings of an object. The built-in range-finding reticle allows the user to calculate the distance from an object of a known height. The ability to take accurate compass readings on the water makes these lightweight binoculars perfectly suited for safe navigation while racing or coastal cruising. The size and weight of the binoculars is important. Bulky binoculars may be difficult to hold on to and focus.
These are ¼ of the price of the expensive binoculars and twice the price of cheap, poor binoculars, but these deliver exceptional quality and image. They are very popular among with sailors who are also birders and stargazers.
- Waterproof binoculars also floats
- Illuminated compass & range finder reticle for day or night use; the goal is to improve direction while also allowing for a wide field of view regardless of the light or weather conditions.
- Purge gas: Argon (AR) for improved light transmission & fog prevention
- Focusing System: Individual eyepiece focusing. Important, how many people have different vision in each eye? Most!
- Magnification: 7X
- Objective lens: 50mm
- Exit pupil: 7.1mm The exit pupil diameter relates to the brightness your binoculars provide. Think all of us who have had Lasik procedures and need brighter light in order to see. Technically, it is the measurement of the size of the ray of light that will hit your eyes after it travels through the lens. The exit pupil diameter is determined through dividing the lens size by the magnification. The larger the number that is obtained, the brighter the images will appear when viewing through the respective binoculars. Matching a higher magnification with a larger lens size ensures that you will not sacrifice brightness of your image.
- Eye relief: 23mm For people who wear eyeglasses, this is an important specification. The distance your eye can be away from the binocular directly affects your field of view. Twenty three millimeters often translates into being able to look through the binoculars with your eyeglasses or even sunglasses. Enjoy the same field of view as everyone else!

These Binoculars are individual eye adjusted so that you pick them up and look through you should see clearly. I own Steiners for the bridge, other life, and Nikon for flying friends. These BNC20’s are exceptional for use on small boats at sea. The lenses are exceptional which means to me that they have great viewing in poor light and weather conditions. / Captain Thom Burns.
