We left St Bart’s in the morning and had a great sail over to Tintamarre (a flat island near Saint Martin). The beach had been so eroded by hurricane Irma that it was very steep. The only safe way ashore was to swim. This situation left all ashore hikes out. The guys took their exams and then we decided to sail over to Grand Case, on St. Martin’s north side to enjoy a calmer anchorage. We would also have a very short sail to Fort Louis Marina in the morning.
The crew, now recent graduates, had mentioned that they’d like to sail (make all the decisions) so I recommended that we give them full control and we just have a beer in the cockpit while they ran the boat. Thom agreed so we kicked back while they followed the route I had already set for them to Grand Case. Here’s a picture of our crew:
