Day 1 – Leaving Marsh Harbour

Thomb

We boarded our 52 ft Lagoon Catamaran the previous evening. There were 11 of us total; Captain Thom, Jeanne (Co-Captain), Deb (Chef extraordinaire), Patti, Doreen, Paul, Kim, Al, Tim, Jennifer and Nana. How we squeezed in on that 6 cabin/6 head catamaran is beyond me (sarcasm). Captain Thom, Deb and I received a technical review of the boat that was quite overwhelming . . . this boat had a lot of technical systems and instruments to manage them. It was a lot to take in during the short overview.

We left Harbour View Marina at noon and had a very nice sail up to Bakers Bay (10.31 nautical miles). It was light winds with fairly calm seas. A very nice way to start the trip for everyone on board.

It was a pretty calm day so at one point I held the jib to see if we could catch more wind.

We anchored out at Bakers Bay, tried to do some snorkeling but there wasn’t much to see. Some of the crew took the dinghy over to the island to walk across to the Atlantic side but it was very rough on the Atlantic side so they couldn’t snorkel there either. I crashed early (the past few weeks of sailing we’re catching up with me) but Deb made dolphin fish for dinner and I heard it was fantastic!
