Flying Scot Daysailing Club Fleet
# | LOA | Model | Location |
3 | 20′ | Flying Scot | Medicine Lake |
Our Flying Scot Daysailing fleet consists of three Flying Scot sailboats with very large cockpits, one has roller furling jib. These sailboats are totally easy to sail and a lot of fun while being close by in the west metro at Medicine Lake at the sailboat-only docks at French Park. These are the same boats that we use for our Basic Keelboat classes. They are user-friendly sailing vessels. Our boats are very well maintained. A check-ride is required before using these boats.
WindRider 17 Daysailing Club Fleet
# | LOA | Model | Location |
2 | 17' | WindRider 17 | Medicine Lake |
2 | 12' | Hobie Bravo | Medicine Lake |
Our WindRider 17 Daysailing Club fleet currently consists of two WindRider 17 trimarans and two Hobie Bravos. The WindRider 17s are easy to sail and are the same boats that we use for our Basic Small Boat classes. They are really fun, easy boats to sail. Incidently, you steer them like a kayak with your feet which leaves your hands free! They have proven to be the best high-wind boats in the fleet. If you want to move when it is blowing five and fly when it is blowing twenty, these boats are for you! The Hobie Bravo is a California built catamaran that sails like a Laser or Sunfish. Their recycled, rotomolded plastic construction adds greatly to their durability to go along with the fun and empowerment of this sailing dinghy. It is exciting for both beginners and experienced sailors. "I love the durability of these boats and the simplicity of the design," noted Thom Burns. So much fun, so close by in the west metro at Medicine Lake at the sailboat-only docks at French Park.
They are user-friendly sailing vessels. Our boats are well maintained. A check-ride is required before using these boats.

More details about “How it works”
- A use is defined as a time window. We use three time windows: 0800–1200; 1230–1630; 1630–30 minutes before Sunset.
- Reservations for uses are done through our website. We provide you with a login name and password. You can make reservations up to two weeks in advance. You will receive an email confirmation of your reservation which is also sent to the office. You will notice that the boats are reserved by Northern Breezes Sailing School for class times. We cancel school reservations if classes are not viable ten days before the first class session.
- Memberships are annual: When you sign up in the middle of the sailing season, your membership continues into the next sailing season and finishes one year from your start date. So, if you have leftover “uses” from one season, they wrap-around into the next until your membership ends.
- We provide all boat club members a booklet with detailed checklists and instructions on how to operate each of the boats and, in particular, the outboard engines. If all else fails, we provide a couple of phone numbers to call.
- We hold a facility and boat indoctrination for all members each spring and for each member who signs up for an annual membership during the season.
- Please tell us anything which is wrong with a boat, dock or the facility. This helps us keep your experience happy and pleasant!
