He then started sanding an area and found the blisters were gel coat deep at most but all contained a tiny amount of water. What’s the answer to this type of problem?

1 First open blisters by sanding otherwise they will not dry.

2 Second, dry over winter.

3 Third, epoxy the bottom and fair it by sanding smooth in the spring.

4 Fourth, apply barrier coat in the spring. My preference is Interlux InterProtect 2000E. Use at least three thin coats.

5 Fifth, apply normal bottom paint.

6 Sixth, go sailing, be happy!

Safe, Fun, Learning and Sailing.
—
Captain Thom Burns
Northern Breezes Sailing School
“Best of Minneapolis 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024”
American Sailing Association
612-597-7399 phone

Visit us on Facebook at Northern Breezes Sailing School

Northern Breezes Homepage

Sailing Breezes Magazine

Adventure News.
